ABOUT ME

As a teen growing up in Delhi during the 70s and 80s, I was forever glued to the fabulous music coming over the airwaves, on my tinny transistor or over the speakers of our radiogram. All India Radio was a source of wonderful music programs such as ‘A Date With You’ on Friday nights, ‘Forces Request’ on Monday nights, ‘In The Groove’ on weeknights at Yuva Vani and the afternoon Pop, Jazz and Classical programs. And, Radio Australia on shortwave…and then reading about all the bands in JS!

This music is the soundtrack to some of the happiest days of my life, and, some of my most precious memories are attached to these songs. I can vividly recall when i first heard Clapton or Abba or Carpenters or Floyd and who I was with – the Saket D-block gang (Himanshu, Amitabh, Sushev, Negi, Atul, Fariz, Glof, Anu and of course my precious sister, Barkha….) or my school best friends who’ve been my buddies for 50 years ( Pimmi, Shishir, Vipin ‘Django’, Anil, Atul, Sujata…..) or DCE mates (Pandit, Tribal, Pachyderm, KP, …) and my IIMC BFFs( Sahai, Sethi and the whole C22 gang….) or all the wonderful friends I’ve made since then… This blog isn’t about living in the past. It’s just to celebrate the music of our younger days and hopefully have you go “Man, I haven’t heard that in 40 years…you know I remember….”
